The editor’s note
Good information.
No borrowed credibility.
A useful food guide makes it clear what it knows—and what still needs checking.
Directory selections and community reviews are different.
“Index classic” is an editorial directory designation. It is not a verified ownership claim, a paid placement, or a community vote. Search lists classics first and then alphabetically, unless you choose distance.
Historical scores are withheld.
Older records combine editorial values and imported rating data. We do not present those values as local community ratings. We also omit aggregate rating markup until source and count can be established.
Hours and menus need dates.
Listed hours are evaluated in Hawaiʻi Standard Time. A schedule can be available without being recently confirmed. Missing days and unrecognized schedules are unknown, not automatically closed. Menu prices have no confirmed update date unless stated; check with the restaurant.
Today’s special means a recent post.
Only a timestamped special posted within the last 24 hours is eligible for the current-specials feed. Older and undated notes are historical dining tips, never current availability promises.
Photos have a paper trail.
Only images in the reviewed photo register are published. Each has a creator, source and license, with visible credits and a full attribution record. Restaurant photos are matched to that business; general dish illustrations are used only in editorial explanations. Archive dates do not imply a current visit, menu or endorsement. Unconfirmed images are withheld.
Corrections and paid tools stay separate.
Anyone can report incorrect listing information. Existing paid owner services remain separate from the factual accuracy of the directory; payment is not evidence of food quality or community approval.
