Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run the site. Specifically:

• Sign in with Apple (SIWA). When you sign in, Apple passes us a unique identifier, a display name, and (optionally) your email address. We store the identifier and the handle you choose. Apple may relay a private relay address instead of your real email — we accept both.
• Reviews, tips, and questions. Content you submit is stored and displayed publicly on the listing pages. Your handle appears alongside it.
• Owner claims. If you claim a listing, we collect your business email address, which is used to send your magic-link login and billing receipts. Payment is processed by Stripe — we do not store card numbers.
• Correction reports. If you submit a correction via the flag form, we collect your message and listing ID. No account required.
• Server logs. Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) retained for 30 days for security purposes.

How We Use Your Information

• To display your public contributions (reviews, tips, questions) on the site.
• To calculate your Local Score and Kūpuna status.
• To send transactional emails (magic links, billing receipts). No marketing unless you opt in.
• To investigate abuse and maintain site integrity.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not run third-party advertising. We do not share your data with any party except as required to operate the service (Stripe for payments, Resend for transactional email).

Cookies & Tracking

We use localStorage to store your JWT session token on your device. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics that identify you personally.

Data Retention

Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion by emailing [email protected]. Public reviews you authored will be anonymized rather than deleted, as they form part of the editorial record.

Children

Da Plate Lunch Index is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and post a notice on the front page for 30 days.
